Crash and Burn

I haven't made an effort to continue dating. There is this great big whole inside of me from my past relationship and I think I'm FINALLY starting to realize that dating isn't the answer ( at lease until that hot guy from the Ritz calls me).
Consider the following:
- The accountant texted me, saying he wanted to see me when he got back from London, I didn't return the text.
- I made vague non committal plans with my roommates friend, cxled them. Then saw him out with another guy, hand in hand. They made a cute couple and he looked happy.
- Ran into BD guy, it was a "hey, whats going on?! I'll call u." Never did.
In other news...
Volleyball started. We lost all three game. The team that we played against had played together before so it was kind of an unfair match up. I'm already facebook friends with most my team mates, its like we are bff now. :)
My new work out partner is awesome. He reminds me of my roommate from college and a surfer..dude. Totally.
My Ex from Fire Island leaves NYC this thursday for good. I can't believe I met him almost 6 years ago. Its an end of an era with him moving. Seems like all my old friends are leaving NYC...maybe I'm next?

Old Habits Die Hard

Scene: NYC subway train, night. Ex, Friend 1, Friend 2 and I are riding the train heading from a birthday party at my Ex's apartment.
Me: K, this is my stop. I'll catch u guys later.
[leans in and gives quick cheek kisses to Friend 1 & 2]
Me: See u later
[leans in and almost kisses Ex on lips, hits side of cheek]
Me: love u
[rushes out train door]
Scene.
****
Its like my mind was on autopilot as I was saying my goodbyes. I didn't even realize it until I was out of the subway.
In other news, I made the volleyball team. Almost 300 people tried out on Saturday. After 6 hrs of volleyball, I was one of the 190 people that made the Division 8 teams. The try outs and league remind me of my fraternity days...that and several scenes from Mean Girls. I've already facebooked my teammates. Hot. Let the games begin!

9-11-08
Not much of a view from the roof top of my place on 119th street but it still caused me to take time and remember.
I was living on 103rd street (just 3 months in nyc) and was awoken by my roomates to watch the news in shock. I remember my family couldn't get me on my phone until the afternoon, so they were kinda freaked. I remember going to dinner with some friends in Chelsea that night 7 years ago and seeing people with masked covering their mouth. U couldn't go past 14th street, they had blocked everything off. And then I remember the missing signs started to appear every where, first a couple then entire bus stops covered in paper.
I hear this is the last year those lights will shine, contract on where the floor light sit has run out. I hope it continues. It helps remind us all.

For my Republican family
From the LA Times OpEd section:
"Palin's value to those patriarchs is clear: She opposes just about every issue that women support by a majority or plurality. She believes that creationism should be taught in public schools but disbelieves global warming; she opposes gun control but supports government control of women's wombs; she opposes stem cell research but approves "abstinence-only" programs, which increase unwanted births, sexually transmitted diseases and abortions; she tried to use taxpayers' millions for a state program to shoot wolves from the air but didn't spend enough money to fix a state school system with the lowest high-school graduation rate in the nation; she runs with a candidate who opposes the Fair Pay Act but supports $500 million in subsidies for a natural gas pipeline across Alaska; she supports drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, though even McCain has opted for the lesser evil of offshore drilling. She is Phyllis Schlafly, only younger.
I don't doubt her sincerity. As a lifetime member of the National Rifle Assn., she doesn't just support killing animals from helicopters, she does it herself. She doesn't just talk about increasing the use of fossil fuels but puts a coal-burning power plant in her own small town. She doesn't just echo McCain's pledge to criminalize abortion by overturning Roe vs. Wade, she says that if one of her daughters were impregnated by rape or incest, she should bear the child. She not only opposes reproductive freedom as a human right but implies that it dictates abortion, without saying that it also protects the right to have a child." - Gloria Steinem

You can never go home again.

Two weeks since my last posting, work has been kicking my ass hence the lack of postings. Anyway, the updates:
BD guy and I had our 5th and I think final date. I can feel he wants to take it to the next level and I'm just not ready
My roommate's friend and I spent the night together. He was a complete gentleman and respected my boundaries. He also has these amazing blue eyes that I could stare at for days.
I have no idea what I'm doing with the accountant. I'm always excited to hang out with him then when the time actually comes I'm totally bored. Met his friends, nice group. Someone referred to me as 'boyfriend', which kinda freaked me out and I pretended not to hear. He also commented on my recent fight with Corey as "we're just being gay" which completely pissed me off.
Took my ex dog to the park with my ex man. Also saw my ex apartment, its not our home anymore. Its just an apartment, seemed cold and strange. I miss the area and our old restaurants. It was good to see my ex dog and man, bittersweet. His current bf called while we were eating. As he was saying good bye, he said 'love u too'. I remember how long it took me to say those words to him. I wondered what their story was behind who said it first and how. I didn't ask, to much reality for one day.
Wonder when/what my story will be.
In other non dating news
- started football, I'm completely out of my league. Routes? Ins? Outs? post? what?
- vball tryouts this Saturday, I'm totally ready
- meeting my new workout partner tomorrow, hope he's cool. Its sucks going to the gym by myself and I've missed the gym several times over the past two weeks
- going home in November, its been to long. see blake :)
- desperately need to do laundry!!!
